I resent that. Editors have to be experts in their fields. put "copy" in front of that "editor". Even then, it's not something just anyone can do.

Okok. So many specialist publications out there require editors with expertise and not just anybody can do the job. Techie magazines even more so. (Of course, when it comes to esteemed female magazines, the job becomes infinitely trickier.)
But then there are also a million others out there where you don't need to have any sorta specific training or knowledge to qualify as an editor. For example, you don't have to be an expert to, say, proof-read an assessment book or maybe even a lifestyle magazine.
